About Me

Hi there! My name is Ms. Jeffers, and I teach 7th grade language arts here at Pleasant Valley Junior High.

I  attended Augustana College, graduating with both Phi Beta Kappa and Suma Cum Laude honors. At that time, I moved to Togiak, Alaska, to teach at a Title 1 school in an Eskimo village! While there, I taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade language arts as well as reading. I spent time fishing, exploring wilderness, and learning about a culture completely different than my own. My time in Alaska was rich, providing me with many leadership opportunities and chances to grow as an educator. Plus, I got to see bears, eagles, moose, and fox out my bedroom window! How cool!

When I’m not teaching, I love reading, writing, spending time with my family and friends, training my dog Zephyr to do sweet tricks, going to the movies, and being active outdoors. I spend a lot of time at a family cottage in Western Michigan where I’m lucky to be able to relax on the beach, go out on the boat, and participate in water sports whenever I see fit. Also, there is a hammock. How can you not love a place that has a hammock?

My favorite book is Boy’s Life by Robbert McCammon, and my favorite color is green. I’m a dog person (just thinking about cats makes me sneeze), am scared of zombies, and love sitcoms. It was in 5th grade that I first realized I wanted to be a teacher and am incredibly passionate about what I do. I am so excited to share that passion with another group of amazing students and the Pleasant Valley community!

If you have any questions for me, don’t hesitate to ask!
