Letter to Me!

Class began the usual way. Today’s Welcome Activity was another review of parts of speech. Students looked at the sentence below, and they had to identify the nouns, verb, adjective, and adverb.

Kim bravely jumped over the giant log.

After reading and discussing the WA, students took out their vocabulary words and wrote down synonyms and antonyms for each of the four words this week. Conspicuous called on their knowledge of vocabulary from last week because furtive acts as an excellent antonym for it!

The rest of class (since classes are shortened today due to the early out schedule for the assembly) was dedicated to work time on the Letter to Me project. I went over a few things on how to read the rubric and what to do to organize a piece well, and then students had time to work.

I will dedicated 15 – 20 minutes of class time tomorrow for continue work; however, I also asked students to work for that same amount of time outside of class tonight, so they are in a good place with the assignment come the due date.
